about the kansas run club

every Wednesday @ 6:30pm | lululemon (Country Club Plaza)

Kansas Run Club (KRC) started with a simple goal: to bring people together through running. Founder Jacob Bentzinger, an avid runner in Kansas City’s Crossroads District, got tired of running alone. So, he took to social media, sharing his running schedule and inviting friends to join. Seven weeks later, a stranger joined him, and it became clear—running with friends is better. What began as a solo effort quickly grew into a community-focused running club in the heart of America.

In just a year, KRC has become a staple in the Kansas City metro running scene, regularly collaborating with global brands to elevate the local running experience. The club hosted its first official Kickoff event one year ago, and since then, thousands of Kansas City runners have joined for a run at least once. Every week, hundreds of runners meet in Country Club Plaza to lace up and hit the road together. These weekly runs are a chance to connect, inspire, and be part of something bigger.

The club’s leadership team includes founder Jacob, women’s coach Mary Payne, and men’s coach Joey Holley. Together, they know how to bring people together, creating a warm and inclusive environment where runners of all levels feel welcome. Together, we are dedicated to building a positive space where everyone can reach their personal best while enjoying a true sense of community that we can call ‘home’.

Kansas City is rich in running opportunities, and KRC is just one of many ways to get involved. If you're looking to explore other Kansas City running clubs or find group runs around the metro area, just ask!

There’s a run almost every day of the week, so whether you're a beginner or an experienced marathoner, there’s a spot for you in KC’s vibrant running community. Run with KRC or look around for a club for you.

See you soon!
